Twenty years ago my first Weim, U-CD Misty of Swift Creek, CDX, TD, JH, SD, SD, RDX, V, CGC, TDI,
taught me the challenges of training an intelligent and willful dog. We started with obedience,
but it she convinced me early on that tracking and the field were a lot more fun. On our way to
earning 12 titles, I was hooked on this versatile breed.
Shortly after Misty's death Covey, a puppy I co-bred, came home. I had great hopes for her show
prospects, and she did well in tracking and obedience, but her strengths are in the field. With
help from my friends and a bit of luck I finished her field championship with a major.
I currently own, train and handle FC Starbuck a Covey in the Hand, CD, TD, SH, SDX, RDX, VX and
Texmara's Moving On, JH, NSD, SDX. As a founding member and president of the Tarheel Weimaraner Club
I've also encouraged the club's versatility. TWC regularly holds WCA rating tests and AKC specialty
shows, obedience trials, hunt tests, field trials and tracking tests. A WCA member since 1985, I
currently serve as the club's Ratings Chair.
